Just Who Will Sign for Newcastle in January?

January 2022 is the month that Newcastle United has waiting for. Sportsbooks are full of markets on which players will be making their way to the struggling (but now very rich) Premier League club. Just who could they sign in the January transfer window?

Since the takeover of the club, everyone has been counting down the days to January. It’s ok having millions to spend but football isn’t how it used to be. There are no making signings throughout the season as it was in the old days. Newcastle really has been a team with money-burning holes in their pockets.

The new owners have only seen their costly purchase win one Premier League game. Betting on them to win titles is going to be commonplace in the future. The hope for United at present is that it’s not going to be if they can win the Championship next season.

Just Who Will Sign for Newcastle in January?

Sportsbooks have some faith in Newcastle avoiding the drop. They are generally fourth in the list of teams to be relegated with Norwich, Burnley, and Watford leading the market no one wants to be top of.

There will be plenty of betting opportunities available on Newcastle United. Registering with and claiming the bet365 bonus code deal is as good as signing a top player.

Just one win in 19 Premier League games is a terrible record. However, there are other poor teams in the league too. Newcastle is two points from safety, though they’ve played a game more than Watford (who just keeps losing and losing) in 17th and two more than Burnley.

It’s a very retrievable situation for Newcastle. Their next Premier League game is a vital home game against Watford on January 15. That’s a match in which bookmakers already have United as the most likely side to get a victory. United then travel to 16th place Leeds United seven days later. Just how many players will be making their debut against Watford?

Newcastle’s problems mounted when losing Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maxim to injury. A new dawn is breaking through, and new recruits are on their way. The hope is they won’t find their way into the ten worst transfers of all time.

The first of those appears to be England defender Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid. One thing you can always bet on with confidence is Newcastle conceding a goal. 42 have been put past them in 19 league matches. Tightening up the defense is a key target for new boss Eddie Howe. Not that he’s that well-regarded when it comes to fielding sides that keep clean sheets.

Kieran Trippier Joins Newcastle United

Trippier might not be the only England defender on his way to Newcastle. They are favorites to sign Burnley defender James Tarkowski. Would Burnley sell one of their best players to their relegation rivals?  A new goalkeeper may arrive in the shape of Manchester United’s Dean Henderson. The big question that potential signings have is do they stay with their club or join the Newcastle revolution?

When it comes to midfielders and strikers, there’s a glut of possible signings. Bookmakers have Newcastle as the most likely destination for a lot of players this month. Anthony Martial is unsettled at Manchester United and could well move to Newcastle in January. He might bet on there being more chances of making the first team at this United.

Another player wanting more first-team action is Aaron Ramsey. He wears a black and white shirt when playing for Juventus but could be in similar colors for Newcastle sometime in January. He’s had plenty of experience of Premier League football with Arsenal and could certainly be an asset for Newcastle.

Adama Traore is another target, though United faces tough opposition from Tottenham there.  Perhaps Tottenham might need Traore as bookmakers believe Dele Alli may well be on his way to the Northeast.

Newcastle United's Budget This Year

Another possible signing is Jesse Lingard, though West Ham will provide stiff opposition there. Could Newcastle tempt James Ward-Prowse away from Southampton? News of the Saints also being taken over might extend the odds on such a deal becoming reality.

Newcastle has only scored 19 goals in the Premier League this season. With injury problems upfront, getting a new striker or two is a must for United. They may be wealthy, but this is a difficult time to sign players. A loan deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a possibility and there are whispers about Wilfried Zaha too.

Now isn’t the time to be signing superstars. Newcastle is in survival mode and staying in the Premier League is an absolute must. Achieve that and then anything could happen when the summer transfer window opens. That’s when the focus changes and sportsbooks will be offering odds on them making it into the Champions League rather than the Championship.
